Monesty1994Participant
I suspect once you get comfy with the rhythm then you’ll find it won’t matter to you as much what kind of floggers you use. When I was first trying to learn it, it felt like the least little thing could throw me off. Once it was down pat, it got so I could probably use a baseball bat in one hand and a feather duster in the other, and it still wouldn’t matter. It’s just something the brain needs to wrap itself around.
In case the insight helps, I find the greater the mass or length of the flogger, the more you substitute wrist for arm motion… basically just expand the radius of the rotation. And how you strike is also related to the radius.. the smaller the flogger, the easier to concentrate on a small area, larger, the easier to expand the strikes over a larger area. At least that’s been the case for me.
TinswasParticipantI felt Florentine flogging for the first time Sunday (it was with fire though),and found it was almost hypnotic with the rhythm. Now, since it was fire floggers, they make noise, so music would have been worthless, but with regular floggers music helps me get to subspace… even better if there are NO words.
TinswasParticipantMy Sir has found I go into subspace much quicker if he flogs me to music I can “get lost in”. I was wondering if anyone can help. We’ve used rock “albums” like an hour of Def Leppard and Pink Floyd, and we’ve used a shorter ,(20 min) more intense scene using the classical piece Bolero by Ravel.
We are looking for some new music good for an intense flogging scene, hopefully about 45 minutes ling. Does anyone have any music suggestions?? We tend to get the music clips off of you tube.
Thank you so much!
HaveretwoundParticipantWe have a “play” list with a few hours worth of music. Here’s a sampling of what it contains:
Nightwish, Estes Tonne, Yoshida Bros (Rising), NiN (Animal), Adelitas Way (Cage the Beast, Sick), Pop Evil (Broken & Betrayed, Black & Blue), Redlight King (Something for the Pain), Avenged Sevenfold (Nightmare), Stabbing Westward (Save Yourself), Ratt (Round & Round), Puddle of Mudd (Control), Linkin Park (Bleed it Out), Apulanta, HiM, Metallica (Master of Puppets), Slipknot (Vermilion), Three Days Grace (Pain), Chris Isaak (Wicked Games), Buckcherry (Crazy Bitch), Chevelle, Disturbed, Entwine, Finger 11, Led Zeppelin, Monkey Majick (Change), Ra (Fallen Angels), Trapt (Stand Up).WhadvatedParticipantAbout 5 years ago, I held a birthday party in my dungeon for one of my then play partners, Leeanne. She and one of her friends, Mia, flogged my butt for the duration of Glenn Miller’s ‘In the Mood’, with each of them whacking each of my buttocks alternately to each beat of the music. They enjoyed themselves so much that I had to undergo a repeat performance! LOL
Doony1975ParticipantI, too, have used music for flogging. Most of my selections of music is more instrutmental than songs with words in them. I, for the most part, find the lyrics of songs can be a little distracting and can take away from the enjoyment of a flogging. I do make exceptions though. I mean, 17 minutes of Iron Butterfly’s ” In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida ” is really something. I also use music that has been made for movies. Examples are ” Red October “, Terminator 2, Kill Bill Vol1 and Vol2.
HillectParticipantOften times I find myself flogging in a venue I can’t play music, but when I can.. I have a playlist on my ipod that has a mixture of dance/techno (the only time I ever listen to it) and various rock/metal/industrial songs. With the second group, I tend to strip out the lyrics just so it doesn’t take away from the scene, or to cause unnecessary associations between the song and the flogging. For the recon, yes that has happened. I have a sub that has told me that he cannot hear “Let the bodies hit the floor” without having a bit of a flashback to our session (he said it was awesome).
BressibityParticipantI know as top, I like to have music available. I think variety is important as long as it maintains a good “energy” level. That does NOT always mean a rapid beat. You do need to quieter elements splattered in there on occasion.
I tend toward symphonic/progressive metal with a sprinkling of industrial/house. This would be great for rough play, impact play, predicament play, and a good variety of rope play, etc. where you want to maintain energy levels
If you wanted to go to a more sensual feel, you could go more acoustic or new age for senual play, other types of rope play and environments where you are enhancing the more languid aspects to the scene you are creating.kabunzaParticipantDear ladies and gentlemen,

CyberdommeParticipantA cell phone charger cord makes an excellent whip. The ends are held in one hand forming a loop. It is very painful. It has the advantages of being rather quiet and not attracting attention, since almost everyone travels with one.
dommyParticipantI use hemp. I actually found the vendor on this site!
MxRubyRougeParticipantI use jute exclusively – I got mine from Jakara-Rope. It’s free UK delivery!
MxRubyRougeParticipantI use 8m lengths of jute almost exclusively. Mine is from Jakara-Rope.
PurshoParticipantCool thanks for the link!
PurshoParticipantWhy did you choose this rope over others?
